Day-wise Itinerary

Day1

Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati

Guwahati

Arrive at **Guwahati Airport** or **Guwahati Railway Station**, where you\\\'ll be greeted by your driver or tour guide.
Check-in at your pre-booked hotel, such as **Vivanta by Taj**, **Radisson Blu**, or **Hotel Landmark**, offering a central location in Guwahati.
Visit the famous **Kamakhya Temple**, a major Shakti Peetha located on Nilachal Hill, and enjoy the spiritual vibes and panoramic views of the Brahmaputra River.
Proceed to **Umananda Temple**, situated on **Peacock Island** in the middle of the Brahmaputra River, accessible by a ferry ride from Kachari Ghat.
In the evening, enjoy a relaxing **Brahmaputra River Cruise** to witness the sunset, with spectacular views of the city and the river\\\'s serenity.
Explore **Fancy Bazar**, a vibrant market in Guwahati, where you can shop for Assam’s famous **silk sarees**, **tea**, **handicrafts**, and traditional jewelry.
Dine at a local restaurant like **Mising Kitchen** or **Paradise Restaurant**, and try traditional Assamese dishes like fish curry, rice, and pithas (sweet rice cakes).

Day2

Day 2: Guwahati to Kaziranga

After breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin the scenic road journey to **Kaziranga National Park**, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, located approximately 190 km away (4-5 hours drive).
Enroute, stop for a brief break at **Barapani Lake** (Umiam Lake), a picturesque man-made reservoir surrounded by lush hills, ideal for a quick walk or photography.
Arrive in Kaziranga and check-in at your resort or eco-lodge, such as **Brahmaputra Jungle Resort** or **Diphlu River Lodge**, offering a peaceful and nature-filled experience.
After a leisurely lunch, visit the **Kaziranga Orchid and Biodiversity Park**. Explore walking trails, learn about the park’s flora and fauna, and enjoy the serene beauty of the park.
Return to the resort for an evening at leisure. Many resorts offer **traditional Assamese cultural performances**, such as **Bihu dance** or **music**, which you can enjoy with a local dinner.

Day3

Day 3: Guwahati to Kaziranga National Park (Wildlife Safari)

Start your day with an early morning **elephant safari** (5:30 AM - 6:30 AM) through the park\\\'s central range (Kohora). The elephant safari offers an intimate, up-close experience to spot **one-horned rhinoceros**, **wild elephants**, **water buffaloes**, and **tigers** in their natural habitat.
Return to your resort for breakfast and relax after your safari.
After breakfast, go for a **jeep safari** in the Western Range (Bagori) or Eastern Range (Agoratoli). This will offer another opportunity to see wildlife, including the rare **Bengal Florican** and various bird species.
In the afternoon, explore nearby tea estates or visit local villages to witness Assamese rural life. You can interact with local villagers to learn about their customs, farming techniques, and handicrafts.

Day4

Day 4: Kaziranga to Shillong

After breakfast, check out from your resort and drive to **Shillong**, the capital city of Meghalaya, which is approximately 250 km (6-7 hours drive) from Kaziranga. The drive will take you through beautiful tea gardens and the hilly landscape of Meghalaya.
Stop for a scenic break at **Barapani Lake (Umiam Lake)**, where you can enjoy a peaceful walk or a short boat ride. The lake is surrounded by lush green hills and offers excellent views.
Arrive in Shillong and check-in at your hotel. You can stay at hotels such as **Hotel Polo Towers**, **Ri Kynjai**, or **The Heritage Club - Tripura Castle**.
After checking in, head to **Shillong Peak** (10 km from the city center). The viewpoint offers stunning views of the city, hills, and valleys. On a clear day, you can even see as far as Bangladesh.
Visit **Police Bazar**, the main market area of Shillong. It is a vibrant place to shop for local crafts, woolens, traditional Khasi jewelry, and souvenirs.
Enjoy dinner at **Cafe Shillong** or **Tribal Kitchen**, both offering authentic Khasi food such as **Jadoh** (a rice dish with meat) and **Doh-Khlieh** (pork salad).

Day5

Day 5: Shillong Sightseeing

Start your day by visiting **Ward’s Lake**, a tranquil spot perfect for a morning walk or a peaceful boat ride. The lake is surrounded by well-maintained gardens, making it an ideal location for relaxation.
Next, head to the **Don Bosco Centre for Indigenous Cultures**, an excellent museum showcasing the diverse cultures of Northeast India, including clothing, art, and traditions of various tribes.
Visit **Elephant Falls**, a picturesque spot where water cascades down in three stages. The falls are located just outside the city and are surrounded by lush greenery, making it a popular spot for photos.
For lunch, enjoy a meal at **Laitumkhrah** neighborhood, where you can try traditional Khasi food like **Kynphor** (spicy meatballs) and **Pork with Bamboo Shoot**.
In the afternoon, visit **Shillong Golf Course**, one of the oldest golf courses in Asia, or explore the quieter, more peaceful parts of the city, such as **Lady Hydari Park** or the **Catholic Cathedral**.
Relax in the evening and head to local cafes or eateries for a warm meal, or take a short stroll through the streets of Shillong to enjoy its cool climate and natural beauty.

Day6

Day 6: Day Trip to Cherrapunji (Sohra)

After an early breakfast, leave for a **day trip to Cherrapunji (Sohra)**, about a 2-hour drive (50 km) from Shillong. The journey is scenic, with lush forests, hills, and numerous waterfalls along the way.
Visit **Nohkalikai Falls**, the tallest waterfall in India, which plunges from a height of over 1,000 feet. The falls are surrounded by stunning views of the valley and cliffs.
Explore **Mawsmai Cave**, a limestone cave that is one of the most famous attractions in Cherrapunji. The cave is filled with interesting stalactites and stalagmites, making it an exciting place to explore.
Stop at **Thangkharang Park**, offering panoramic views of the surrounding area, including the plains of Bangladesh. The park also has viewpoints of the stunning **Nohkalikai Falls**.
Drive to **Dawki**, known for its **Umngot River**, famous for its crystal-clear water. You can enjoy a **boat ride** here, often referred to as one of the cleanest rivers in the world, where the boat appears to float on the transparent water.
If time permits, visit **Mawlynnong**, Asia’s cleanest village, known for its eco-friendly practices and beautiful landscapes. The village offers stunning views of the Khasi Hills and is home to bamboo bridges.
Return to Shillong in the evening and relax after a full day of sightseeing.

Day7

Day 7: Shillong to Guwahati (Departure)
