Day-by-Day Itinerary
Delhi to Haridwar
DAY 1 – Delhi Pickup and Transfer to Haridwar with Full Sightseeing
Your journey begins with a pickup from Delhi (Airport or Railway Station). From here, you will travel along the national highway towards Haridwar, passing through the plains of North India before entering the holy city.
Upon arrival, check in at the hotel and begin the Haridwar exploration.
Haridwar Sightseeing (Detailed):
Har Ki Pauri Ghat: The most sacred bathing ghat on the Ganga River. Famous for its ancient Brahmakund and evening Ganga Aarti.
Mansa Devi Temple: Situated atop Bilwa Parvat, reachable by ropeway and considered a major wish-fulfilling shrine.
Chandi Devi Temple: Located on Neel Parvat, typically visited along with Mansa Devi to complete the Shakti Peeth Darshan.
Bharat Mata Mandir: A unique multi-storey temple dedicated to Mother India with cultural, spiritual and historical themes.
Daksh Prajapati Temple: Known from ancient Puranas, related to Sati and Lord Shiva.
Vaishno Devi Temple (Replica): A devotional architectural structure representing Vaishno Devi’s cave-style experience.
Local Bazaar: Traditional shops selling Rudraksha beads, spiritual items, prasad, and local snacks.
In the evening, witness the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri.
Dinner and overnight stay in Haridwar.
Haridwar to Barkot
DAY 2 – Haridwar to Barkot
After breakfast, begin the ascent towards the Garhwal Himalayas.
This drive is scenic with sharp turns, dense forests and mountain valleys.
En Route Highlights:
Mussoorie Viewpoints: Offers panoramic views of the Doon Valley and the Himalayan foothills.
Kempty Falls: A major natural waterfall located on the Mussoorie route, with cold mountain water flowing through rocks.
Yamuna Valley Views: As you head towards Barkot, the road winds into lush green valleys with views of the Yamuna River.
Arrival in Barkot. Hotel check-in and rest.
Dinner and overnight stay.
Yamunotri Darshan and Return to Barkot
DAY 3 – Yamunotri Darshan and Return to Barkot
Drive early morning to Janki Chatti, the base station of the Yamunotri trek.
Detailed Yamunotri Experience:
The trek route is approximately 6 km one-way with steep, scenic and lush forest-covered paths.
The area is surrounded by snow-capped peaks and gushing streams.
Upon reaching the Yamunotri Temple, perform the darshan. This temple is one of the most important shrines of the Char Dham circuit.
Major Points at Yamunotri:
Yamunotri Temple: Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna.
Surya Kund: A natural hot water spring where devotees prepare prasad by dipping rice or potatoes.
Divya Shila: A sacred stone worshipped before entering the temple.
Origin of River Yamuna: A spiritually and geographically significant point.
Return to Barkot by evening. Overnight stay.
Barkot to Uttarkashi
DAY 4 – Barkot to Uttarkashi
Depart for Uttarkashi after breakfast.
Uttarkashi is one of the most important spiritual towns in the Himalayas.
Sightseeing in Uttarkashi:
Kashi Vishwanath Temple: One of the oldest temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, believed to be built by Parashuram.
Shakti Temple: Known for its massive iron Trishul, which is believed to be centuries old.
Nehru Mountaineering Institute (NIM): One of India’s most reputed mountaineering training institutions. You may visit the museum containing mountaineering equipment and expedition records.
Overnight stay in Uttarkashi.
Uttarkashi to Gangotri Darshan
DAY 5 – Uttarkashi to Gangotri Darshan and Return
Early morning departure for Gangotri, located near the Indo-Tibetan border.
Route Highlights:
Harsil Valley: Known as Mini Switzerland, famous for pine forests, apple orchards, quiet landscapes and untouched natural beauty.
Bhagirathi River Views: The sparkling teal-blue river flows beside the road.
Gangnani Hot Springs: A natural thermal spring where pilgrims may take a holy dip.
Gangotri Temple Visit:
Dedicated to Goddess Ganga.
Surrounded by snow-clad peaks and offering a serene environment.
Visit Surya Kund and the nearby footbridge.
Jalmagna Shivling appears during early summer when the water recedes.
Return to Uttarkashi. Overnight stay.
Uttarkashi to Sonprayag
DAY 6 – Uttarkashi to Dhari Devi Temple to Rudraprayag to Sonprayag
Proceed from Uttarkashi towards Sonprayag.
Major Stop: Dhari Devi Temple
Situated on a rocky island in the Alaknanda River, this temple is believed to protect the region from natural calamities. A highly revered Shakti Peeth.
Further En Route:
Srinagar Dam: A major hydropower project on the Alaknanda.
Rudraprayag Sangam: Confluence of the Mandakini and Alaknanda rivers, known for its mythological association with Narad and Lord Shiva.
Arrival in Sonprayag. Overnight stay.
Sonprayag to Kedarnath
DAY 7 – Sonprayag to Kedarnath
Proceed early morning to Gaurikund, the base for Kedarnath.
Options to reach Kedarnath include pony, doli, palanquin and helicopter services.
Upon reaching Kedarnath:
Kedarnath Temple Experience:
One of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Shiva.
Located at a height of 3,583 meters.
Surrounded by Chorabari Glacier and snow mountains.
Evening Aarti is a deeply spiritual experience.
Visit Bhairavnath Temple, located on a ridge overseeing Kedarnath.
Explore Mandakini river origin region.
Night stay in Kedarnath.
Kedarnath to Sonprayag
DAY 8 – Kedarnath to Triyuginarayan to Sonprayag
Early morning, optional second darshan.
Descend back to Gaurikund.
Proceed to Triyuginarayan Temple by Shuttle, where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati were married according to legends. The eternal fire or Akhand Dhuni is believed to have been burning continuously since the divine wedding.
The site offers sweeping views of Himalayan peaks and a peaceful ambiance.
Return to Sonprayag for overnight stay.
Sonprayag to Chopta
DAY 9 – Sonprayag to Chopta
Drive towards Chopta, the Himalayan meadow region known as Mini Switzerland.
Experiences in Chopta:
Rolling meadows
Dense forests of oak, pine and deodar
Cool climate and mountain panoramas
Opportunity for leisure nature walks
Optional trek to Tungnath or Chandrashila for breathtaking views

Chopta to Badrinath
